Los Olivos, CA -

The Wildling Art Museum is re-opening in its new location at 2928 San Marcos Avenue in Los Olivos with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and public opening party on Sunday, February 22, 2-5 p.m. "This event is the culmination of many months of planning and fund-raising," said Penny Knowles, the Executive Director of the Museum, "and we are all very excited to be at last showing off our new quarters, which includes an expanded gallery, gift shop, library, and a new education center."

The inaugural exhibition in the new building will be The Land of Sunshine: Paintings from The Irvine Museum Collection. This exhibition includes 24 landscape paintings by California Impressionist artists who were active in the first three decades of the 20th century, artists like Maurice Braun, John Gamble, William Alexander Griffith, Anna Hills, Edgar Payne, Hanson Puthuff, and George Gardner Symons. These paintings celebrate the natural beauty of California in the springtime.

The Museum has invited Doreen Farr, the 3rd District Supervisor, and other local dignitaries to assist with the ribbon-cutting, which will take place at 2 p.m. A festive block party will follow until 5 p.m., with all businesses in the area, including The Corner Hose Coffee, Global Gardens, First Street Leather, and Scott Cellars Wine Tasting Room, offering refreshments. Gary Foshee and his band are providing music for the afternoon. In addition, attending Wildling members and new members who sign up that day, will be eligible to put their names into a drawing for two tickets to the Wildling's upcoming Vivan los Californios Barbecue, April 26th, to be held at the Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort.

Every half-hour the Museum will be offering tours of the facility and the new exhibition. There will be an opportunity for visitors, adults, and children alike to create their own landscape artwork in the new Barbara Goodall Education Center and to peruse the expanded Van Gelderen Gift Shop.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 805-688-1082 or consult the Museum's website: www.wildlingmuseum.org.
